Google maps not working right with my iPhone

Over the past few months this app has not been working with my iPhone 6. The location service is not accurate and it does not follow along when you are driving. Not sure if this is an apple or google issue. I have called IT with my cell provider and they were not able to fix the issue. This is very frustrating when traveling.
