I have had this app for several years and it had literally NEVER been wrong once. Of course, save for the very occasional, far and few in between glitches that easily fixed themselves when I would close and restart the app, this has been an incredibly reliable service. However! Recently (recently as in the last update, maybe even the last two updates?) I have had four separate instances where it does not get the final, destination part of the directions correct. Three of these times, the app had me go to an address that was not the address I had entered. Although, the address it would take me to was always very close; no more than half a mile away. For the other incident, it was even more complicated. I entered in an address for a new doctor’s office I was going to. I knew I entered a correct, valid address. But, right after It took me through an intersection, the app told me that I had arrived when all it did was dump me onto a street. I even pulled over multiple times, each time reentering the address, and when I would zoom in to at least try and see where the little pin was so I could just eyeball it and get to my appointment, sure enough it was sitting right in the middle of the street. I was half an hour late to my appointment because of all the circling around a general area the GPS was taking me. I live in a suburban area. It is area that Google Maps has never had any problems with before these recent glitches. I have also been experiencing slightly less hindering glitches recently. The arrow icon going in the opposite direction that I’m going in for a long period of time is one of them. Another one that I recently noticed is the fact that if I go over a bridge that runs overtop of other roads, the GPS will sometimes think that I’m on the road that is under me. I noticed this on a trip to Pittsburgh, even though this glitch had never happened on previous trips I had taken to the same exact area.

It doesn’t work as well as Mapquest.

Railroad tracks are an excellent point of reference for a traveler not familiar with an area as they drive - the most common reason for even using Google Maps! Think how many times you take a quick glance at a map and say to yourself something like "pass over the tracks, then make a right" - or something like that. Please put the railroad tracks back on the map (like Apple does in the iOS map) on your next app update.

Half the purpose of a map is to find things, towns, roads, etc. and this app does that very poorly. Extremely low contrast colors makes lesser roads very hard to see and labels on roads and towns don’t show up until you are zoomed in so far you can’t see around the area you are looking. Outside of a city, you often are looking at a screen full of almost nothing that you wind up zooming in and out and in and out. Please, Google, at least give some options for higher contrast color schemes and higher levels of displayed detail.

Google Maps is my Go To app for planning a trip or just finding my way around town.

What has gone so wrong with this app? It’s worse than nothing now. I have always used it while driving, for traffic info and directions, but the constant freezes and misdirections render it worse than useless. If the map is showing where I began 3 minutes ago and registers no movement, if the spoken directions contradict the graphic .. it’s not helpful; it’s destructive.

All I can say is if I would have had Google maps when I moved to, lived and worked in Atlanta in the nineties, maybe I would still be there. This app never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for making navigating this world possible.

Please try again, but give us back the great app that was before this newest version. This is ridiculous when the apple map out performs google map.

I’ve been using google maps for years and this is app, for whatever reason, changes your route from vehicle to walking. If you’re walking distance from your destination, DO NOT change my preferences. This is extremely frustrating. I have never used google maps for walking so please do STOP switching from driving to walking! Many times when using this app, while driving, it thinks I am walking. There’s no settings to stop this. The ETA is obviously different and it’s taking me to routes that cars cannot go through. I’m forced to leave it like that because to change it back to driving requires so much touching which is dangerous while driving. I don’t understand, if I’m traveling at “45” miles per hour, why would you think I’m walking...? This happens on a daily basis and I tried Waze for the first time and I’m never going back. I guess it’s good to try new things right?

Constantly has me idling not on a road! It used to work perfectly until about 2 months ago. Now it rarely works. Please fix!

Buses are running late. And not coming and been on route

Eventually I get to my destination, but I have to make sure I leave with over double the time that this app tells me I need, not even exaggerating when I say that it doesn’t update my location after I press start to navigate. This is the worst app I have ever had the miss pleasure of needing to have on my phone, it’s essential so I can’t get rid of it but this app is also the sole reason why I’ve broken 4 phones, i can’t even drive to the same place once or twice and learn the way there, so I don’t need this app, but this app makes me drive 100 miles for a 60 mile trip (not exaggerating), so I can’t learn the right way and I need to keep using this app and because of that I’ll keep getting lost and keep breaking my phones, it’s just a big pain and a huge waste of money.

I just Love Google earth and Google maps. The only thing is, I set my address, which is. 211Ravelston Ave. West, Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, But when I go to find it on the map, it shows as. 210 Ravelston Ave West, I cant seem to change it. I find Google Maps to be more accurate than other map apps.

I have an iPhone 6s, and Google maps has been my favorite on road guide for many years, by the past two updates have been horrible. After the initial verbal prompt, the audio cuts off and will not resume. Furthermore, the directional icon isn’t pointed in the appropriate direction and is proportionately speaking, anywhere from a few to a dozen meters off the relevant roadways. Now that I mention it, even the map itself isn’t oriented correctly. For example if the destination is directly in from of me (let’s say that’s north), the correct position on the map should be at the top of my phone, but now it can literally be placed anywhere. It’s a bit disorienting to be driving forward but my map indicates I’m moving in the opposite direction. Please Google, make the necessary patches, and pronto!

I will try to make this entertaining while showing some actual truths about why it’s time for you to stop using anything Google (yes it’s possible and there are way better apps out there). After the firing of James Damore, I stared to look into how Google runs and it turns out...it’s ducking terrifying! (Except I didn’t say duck). Google biases your search results to be more progressive. (Which I would consider myself but I want to draw my own conclusions thank you. Google “American Inventors.” just by way of example) They monitor everything you do on the internet inside or outside of incognito mode (that’s right fellas). They defund YouTube videos based on ideology. And now with maps, they track everywhere you go! And here’s the best part, they sell ALL of that information to the highest bidder. Advertisers, government, individuals. No more privacy. Try Maps.Me or Waze.
