Google Maps App Reviews

Were currently trying to use Google Maps on a road trip. Problems thus far: 1. Occasionally doesnt know the correct name for the street we need to turn onto, causing us to miss our turning. 2. Occasionally labels county roads as federal. 3. Just today directed us to turn west on said mislabeled federal road when it should have said east. 4. Doesnt alert us to the fact that a road is merging with another (causing confusion as to which road were supposed to be on). 5. Completely mishandles the intersection of I-10 with I-285 in Jacksonville, FL, USA. On a freeway, this is very dangerous. The visual display has fewer problems, but can lag when zooming for a turning, making the turn more of a guess than a certainty, especially in towns with poor signage. Good luck, everyone.

After update I can no longer use the app. Starting point doesnt use current location and continuous re-routing issues.

Use app all the time ... at least until this recent update on 5/11. Now it tells me Im starting 1000 miles away and then either gets stuck trying to rerout when I try to start navigation, or says Im at my destination..... Guess Im using another app now ???

Gets me in the area at least. Still cant get my home location right but it will get you in the vicinity. Keep improving and Ill keep using and hopefully dont get too lost.

Use travel time widget daily.. I have "avoid tools + remember this settings" under Route Options & when I check through "Travel Time" widget it does shows time to home/work on basis of avoid tools setting, but when I launch the Google map from Travel Time widget the route opens in App & road direction + time to travel shows toll roads. One more request..Why cant map include street/Hwy speed limits?

Ive been using Maps that comes with the iPhone and every since I found Google Maps, my life has been so much better. Way easier to navigate and use. Plus you can download certain areas to use offline. Very helpful for traveling!!(:

Google Maps used to great. Good, concise directions that generally made sense except for the practice of use state or county road designations instead of the locally familiar and prominently signed road names. I have just deleted the app from my iPhone because I tried to get driving directions to Yosemite National Park. Instead of the visitor center or a well known drivable point, it directed me to the middle of the park. While Im sure that location is lovely and an enjoyable hike, it hardly helps me to determine how to drive to the park from out of the state. This was just the last straw in a number of increasingly obnoxious and unnecessary failures of navigation. Like other users on here, I was growing increasingly frustrated with the nonsensical and incorrect directions given by the app. Goodbye Google Maps. Maybe we can be friends again someday, but right now I need space. Also. Its not me, its you.

I really like google maps. In my humble opinion, its leaps and bounds above apple maps. The only thing that is severely lacking on the app is the time estimation for departing at various times / days. Thats something I really appreciate about the non-app version.

My family and I were going to a festival and typed in the festival name and it told us where to go like normal so we followed were it said to go and it sent us to this random place so we all tried to get directions and all of our phones said different things it took us 40 minutes to finally find it.

This app is complete garbage

Ive never had issues with Google Maps, but this update has a bug. The starting location will not update to reflect my actual current location, causing it to get stuck in the "rerouting" phase. For live navigation, this is basically an unusable app right now.

Stopped working after the recent update. Puts the wrong location for my starting location and says "rerouting" forever.

Love my iPhone but hate the Apple maps. I find google to be more detailed and always has the info I need. Also, the one thumb use is a bonus. Keep it up ??

When adding a photo from the device, please let the cruiser/photo selector return to last photo position within the photo gallery of the previously submitted photo. This feature will be very helpful if user have many pictures to go through and to pick from to update their reviews. Thanks!

Routing always start from a specific location. On starting the route, the app endlessly stays on re-routing and the app eventually dies. Please fix.

The app will not open on my phone with latest update. I even deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled it. No luck.

I was a Google Maps fan and want to come back to the light. I cannot even use this app, as of the last update. It starts navigation in the wrong location and stays there, when though the app knows where I am at, via GPS, and shows me in the correct location. When I try to navigate, it gets stuck trying to redirect, which makes this app pointless as a map app. Also, the recent updates stopped showing my home and work options automatically, to select easily. This feature was amazingly convenient, when it was added. Based off of all of this, I am forced to use.... Apple Maps *shudder*
